Cyberpunk Cityscape in the Sky

Had an idea.
Thought it'd be fun.
Goes like this:

What if we had a credit-based game with small teams featured in the Virtual area (ie, ground level)?

I'm not sure what the rules would be exactly at this point but I'd like for it incorporate the following concepts:

  • 2-3 player teams
  • Some sort of push small push effect that's used to knock opponents out of an arena
  • A ball and a opposing goals
  • 3 dimensional arena, but mostly translucent so you could spectate easily
  • Here's a few links to games that incorporate these concepts already in SL: Push Off Arena, Headball (combat based, hud, goals), Capture the Flag.

This is just a brainstorm. Ideas are welcome.

Ohhh, this does sound fun, wonder how many would be able to actually play without too much lag and freezing though?

The trick to any competition in SL (especially a well-attended one!) is tank all your settings as low as they'll go (esp draw distance), then do something drastic like turn off prims. That usually gets rid of most of my lag, but in a game where we'd be playing with a ball of some sorts I don't think it'd be an option.

I was thinking the same EXACT thing today.

A friend of mine was one of the printers/producers for a sports RPG dice game called GRAV-BALL in the 1980s, a futuristic hockey-type game, in a gravity-less arena. Referees would do full body checks on you.

Theres a Mayan-type game in the Wastelands sims, cant remember the name of it. Coded pretty well except the ball gets lost sometimes, just like in real life.

sounds like fun, the surface is unfortunately not used anyway

Ice Hockey has been going strong in SL for a while now, this could lead to some ideas for whatever you're planning.

And would this be an IC event or something that anyone with an interest could join?

I dunno. Could it be a mix of both, like reakt0r night?

reakt0r night is IC and always has been. FYI ;)

In Kor's history he was a Combat Biker, which I have all in my head. 5 man teams, hover cycles, weapons, EMP, capture the flag like.

Obscure Kinetics sponsors the Lancaster (Northern Scotland) Aurochs, wonder who Gemini sponsors :P
