Hain had his sleeves rolled up. He had a cup of coffee in his hand and a smoke between his lips. Clouds of indoor pollution languished in the air, penetrated by the vidscreen's ever-present glow. He rubbed his stubbled chin, and looked at the data again as it scrolled across the gigantic surface. What a wild ride the past few weeks had been.
It was a series of lucky turnovers. With BCSS now seemingly out of the picture, the shortcomings of the merger proposal didn't seem so bitter on the tongue…
