CHARACTER BIO:
Viks shook his synthetic android head sitting across from La'Rio "We don't go back because that's their policy." a sarcastic grin without showing his teeth "What are you doin' down there anyway?" he was referring to her extracurricular activities, but Viks had revealed a new, nefarious and elusive friend, a friend that is in fact a few hundred years old.
"I'm not afraid to go again, I may go back." inside somewhere in La'Rio's liquid ramtron chips well placed programs danced, calling out, telling her different, but they were natural phenomena, if she were humanoid, one would say a superego, but of whose's thoughts.
Tallulah, behind the bars counter, poured a self illuminated shot, and gently pushed it toward Viks, she gave the eye to La'Rio "You'd better just stay in the city sweetie, there's been talk of what you've done... where you've been, it's gotten the wrong kind of attention."
Vik's pulled a bar-girl close to him, a super beauty, curves wrapped in black strap, revealing but not obscene "What could you possibly get out there that you can't get here?" he boasted, the girl giggled kissing him on the neck, snuggling. La'Rio could only watch him with the newbie, Viks was her only connection to the sub-society, the mixture of untouchables, unidentified hyper-modified entities, many were visually all mecca, some were androids, with several hundred years of experiences and now, Viks had a connection.
Glowing basketball size lights floated weightless through out the bar on an invisible path. Some yellow, some blue and red, with the slow lumbering motion of dandelion seed in the air. A green ball, now lit up their section, hovering there as if alive, tiny ripples rolling along it's glimmering surface.
The Light-Interior, the governing body of the floating city in space, expected you to return and reveal your experiences if you took an exploratory trip. La'Rio had been to what they called Nala four thirty seven, an off limits world - you were much more than required to cycle in for that.
At Anomaly's they gathered, along the cyndrilical bar - a grain of sand in the scope of Blueshine city where they met and conducted business and spoke of their travels in and outside their space bound, snowflake-shaped city, its size, now about seven miles across. It had maneuvered itself sixty thousand light years across the Milky Way galaxy, just a wormhole jump away from Nala, also known as Earth.
La'Rio, one android among the thousands had at least nineteen aware years to look back upon, but what she was activated with was anybody's guess. Memories came with activation because they were shuffled with the endless variations from the city as a collective.
She heard attempts at cracking the liquid chips had only resulted in permanent deactivation, but maybe she thought, there was another way, another way of exploring their true capabilities. But Nala, returning to Nala was what she told herself, damn the messages in her liquid chips.
"I want them to come" La'Rio's voice, serious or sarcastic, Tallulah smiled not sure. The word was, Tallulah might be an informer because she had a falling out when she blabbed during a drunk party night about knowing the friend of a friend who was attempting to code crack the Reticulum's inner core. That certain friend had disappeared.
"They won't do anything to you baby" Viks threw back a small shot of the red liquid, his voice changed to a bass grinding level "I love this look" He turned to her showing a pair of glowing red eyes and green skin a novelty of the drink, "Maybe they will... come for you." it quickly faded away back to his black Desisties, aftermarket eyes, upgrades, she smiled "I'm asking a favor Viks, I need a ship." her fingers, out of sight, nervously pulling on her thigh pocket zip.
"I know someone who knows someone but your on your own sweety, I've got too much up here to lose" His hand found her thigh and she didn't like it but there was a time when she was new and he was new and they were together, the years passed, and he had played often. Her feelings had ceased. Back then his touch had awakened her body to what she could feel, she owed only that much.
"I'm good for it Viks." A small laugh leaked out of his mouth as he glanced at her "It's because we're friends... we were friends once" He looked at the bubbles, away from her, his eyes escalating up, red light behind the bars endless supply of strange liquids brought back from hundreds of different worlds. "We still are, I hope" she places her hand on top of his playing along. He turned to her, looking her in the eyes "You, you are still something to behold."
He smiled openly "Lemme see your scrib?" She used her left hand to unhook a loosely fitted, gel-like, flat, inch-wide screen from her right wrist that doubled as jewelry. It instantly changed from a moving plazma glow to blank white the latest gizmo. He tapped with his finger onto the screen. "Never commit this location and contact, delete it after you use it." She nodded, and wondered just what kind of modifications this person had made that forced such precautions.
"What's this all about? You two getting back together?" Tallulah barged in, her enhanced body modified for pleasure, it strained against her orange plastic flight top but Viks gave her tone "A little break bump-junkie? We're cryptograming here" Tallulah smirked and strolled away for attention elsewhere. La'Rio clicked her scrib back on her wrist "I hope you find what your looking for, eyes" She hadn't heard that for a long time his look reminding her of their old days together.
Jacking a ship she made it back to Earth, but found it was a changed world, in fact, it now resembled her home city in space. What happened to the world she new on her first visit? La'Rio had no choice but to find her way in a bizzare city known as Insilico.
